Faculty, alumni and supporters recognized with Order of Canada
Nearly two dozen members of the University of Toronto community – faculty, alumni and supporters – have joined or been promoted within the Order of Canada, one of the country's highest civilian honours.
Governor General Julie Payette, herself an alumna, announced the latest appointees to the Order, and the promotions within it, on Dec. 28, 2019. Those honoured included supporters such as Heather Reisman, alumni such as Anne Innis Dagg, and current or former faculty, including:
- Donald Dingwell, a world-renowned volcanologist who began his career at Ã山ǿ¼é but now teaches in Germany
- Ken Greenberg, an urban designer, teacher, writer and former adjunct professor in the master of urban design program in the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design
- Mark Henkelman, a professor emeritus in the department of medical biophysics in the Faculty of Medicine
- Shoo Lee, a professor in obstetrics and gynaecology who is cross-appointed to pediatrics in Ã山ǿ¼é's Faculty of Medicine
- Robin McLeod, a professor of general surgery in the Faculty of Medicine
- Anthony Miller, a professor emeritus in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health
- Josef Svoboda, a professor emeritus of biology at Ã山ǿ¼é Mississauga and an expert on Arctic ecology
- Mel Watkins, a professor emeritus in the department of economics
- Bernard Zinman, a professor in the department of medicine and a clinician-scientist at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute
