CUPE 3902 Unit 3 talks move to conciliation

Talks between the University of Toronto and CUPE 3902 Unit 3 are headed to conciliation on Friday.
The move follows 16 sessions of collective bargaining held since July.
Approximately 1,200 sessional instructors at 缅北强奸 are represented by CUPE 3902 Unit 3. On Wednesday, a majority of employees who voted gave the union a strike mandate.
A key issue in the negotiations is the union鈥檚 proposal that would require the University to 鈥渃onvert鈥 a minimum number of sessional lecturers to full-time teaching-stream and tenure-stream faculty positions in each academic year, without participating in a competitive hiring process.
In a statement released on Nov. 16, the University called the union鈥檚 proposal 鈥渇undamentally inconsistent with its open, collegial and competitive faculty recruitment process.鈥
